Salad Bowls for Tauranga Operators
Poke, grain bowls, big summer salads — we've got the bowls that hold it all together.
Tauranga's hospo scene runs hard in summer. Tourists, beach crowds, the Mount lunch rush. You need bowls that don't go soggy, don't collapse under a scoop of rice, and look decent on the counter. We stock kraft and bagasse salad bowls from 500ml to 1300ml, with clear or kraft lids.
Bagasse if you're going compostable. Kraft for a clean, natural look. PP lids if you need a tight seal for delivery. Order before 4pm on a business day and we dispatch the same day on stocked lines.
Sizes and Materials
We stock four sizes: 500ml, 750ml, 1000ml, and 1300ml. That covers a side salad right through to a full poke bowl with toppings piled high.
- Bagasse — pressed sugarcane fibre, home-compostable, handles warm food well, freezer and microwave safe options available.
- Kraft — rigid base, grease-resistant, pairs with a clear PET or kraft lid depending on what you're after.
- PP lids — polypropylene, tight fit, good for delivery where you don't want anything shifting in the bag.
Clear lids let customers see what they're getting. Worth it at a busy counter.
Good Fit for Tauranga's Menu Mix
Tauranga has a strong café and casual dining culture, and a tourism peak that puts real pressure on packaging through summer. A bowl that looks good matters when half your customers are visitors deciding where to come back tomorrow.
These bowls work for poke, Buddha bowls, noodle salads, Mexican-style grain bowls, and anything Thai or Asian fusion with a sauce base. The rigid base means they stack cleanly in a chilled cabinet or a delivery bag without caving in.
Home-Compostable Options
The bagasse range is home-compostable. If your customers care about that, or your council does, it's a straightforward swap from plastic. No special industrial facility needed.
We don't overstate what compostable means — check your local Tauranga waste guidelines to confirm what's accepted in your area. But if you want to move away from single-use plastic bowls, bagasse is a practical option, not just a marketing angle.

Frequently asked
What sizes do your salad bowls come in?+
We stock 500ml, 750ml, 1000ml, and 1300ml. The 750ml is popular for standard poke bowls. The 1300ml suits anything with extra toppings or a big grain base.
Are your salad bowls microwave safe?+
Some bagasse options are microwave safe — check the specific product listing. Kraft bowls with a wax or PE lining are generally not recommended for microwave use.
Can I get home-compostable bowls for my Tauranga café?+
Yes. Our bagasse bowls are home-compostable. No industrial composting facility required. Worth checking Tauranga City Council's current waste guidelines to see what they accept kerbside.
Do the lids fit securely for delivery orders?+
The PP lids give the tightest seal and are the best option for delivery. Clear PET lids are great for counter display. Both are designed to fit the corresponding bowl size without gaps.
Can I get custom printed salad bowls?+
Custom print is available on larger runs. Lead times are longer than stocked lines. Get in touch directly and we can talk through minimum quantities and turnaround times for your order.
How quickly can you get salad bowls to Tauranga?+
We dispatch same-day on stocked lines if you order before 4pm on a NZ business day. Freight to Tauranga from our warehouse depends on your courier, but next-day is typical for most Bay of Plenty addresses.
