Indian Takeaway Packaging

Curry, dal, rice, roti — every component needs its own container, and none of them can leak.

Indian takeaway is awkward to pack. You've got wet curries, dry rice, saucy sides, and a stack of naan that doesn't fit anything standard. The wrong container turns a good meal into a soggy mess before it hits the customer's table.

We stock plastic, bio, and black oval containers that are actually up to the job. Sizes from 280ml to 5 litres, sold by the carton.

Containers for curries and wet dishes

Butter chicken, korma, saag — these dishes need a container with a tight-fitting lid and enough depth to stop the sauce sloshing around in transit. The RF4680 Black Oval Container 500ml and RF4683 Black Oval Container 750ml both do this well. Sold in cartons of 250, they stack cleanly on the shelf and look good on the customer's end.

For larger batch portions or catering packs, the H4208 5ltr DG Plastic Container with Cap is the one. It's built for volume — restaurants doing weekend banquet orders will know what we mean.

Bio options for operators who need them

More Indian restaurants are asking about compostable packaging. We stock a few solid options. The RF4204 Bio Square Container White 280ml suits sides and chutneys — 130 x 130 x 45mm, 600 per carton. Pair it with the RF4218 Bio Lid which fits both the 280ml and 480ml Bio Square Containers.

The F4229 BioCane Takeaway Tray 500ml at 180x124x42mm works for rice or dry dishes. The F1855 Biopak Rectangular Container 500ml is another solid choice for mains — 300 per carton, rectangular shape, fits neatly into a paper bag.

  • Bio Square Container White 280ml — 600/ctn
  • Bio Lid (suits 280ml & 480ml Bio Square) — 600/ctn
  • BioCane Takeaway Tray 500ml — 500/ctn
  • Biopak Rectangular Container 500ml — 300/ctn

Wide-base containers for rice and sides

Rice is dense and heavy. A narrow container tips. The RF0610.1 700ml Bonson Wide Base Container Black has a broader base specifically to handle this — it's sold in cartons of 500 and the black finish presents well. Good for rice, biryani, or any side that needs to sit stable in the bag.

Buying by the carton

All products are sold by the carton, not individually. If you're running a busy Indian restaurant doing 80-plus covers on a Friday night, carton buying is the only way to keep costs in check. Order before 4pm on any NZ business day and stocked lines dispatch same day.

Not sure which container fits your menu best? Check the product pages for exact dimensions before you order — sizes matter when you're fitting containers into a bag or a delivery box.

Frequently asked

The Black Oval Containers — 500ml or 750ml depending on your portion size. Tight lid, good depth, and they don't buckle when the curry is hot. Sold in cartons of 250.

Do you stock compostable containers for Indian takeaway?+

Yes. We have Bio Square Containers in 280ml, BioCane Takeaway Trays in 500ml, and Biopak Rectangular Containers in 500ml. The Bio Lid fits both the 280ml and 480ml Bio Square Containers.

What size container suits a standard rice portion?+
