Food Safe Cling Film
Catering-grade cling film that actually sticks, in the rolls and widths your kitchen needs.
Food safe cling film is a non-negotiable in any commercial kitchen. Whether you're wrapping prepped ingredients, covering cambros overnight, or protecting plated desserts in a display fridge, you need a roll that clings cleanly and meets food contact safety standards.
We stock catering-grade cling film in widths and core sizes suited to hospitality use. No thin domestic rubbish that tears mid-pull. Order by 4pm on a business day and we dispatch the same day on stocked lines.
What Makes Cling Film 'Food Safe'?
Food safe cling film is manufactured to comply with food contact material regulations. That means the film won't leach harmful chemicals into the food it touches — critical when you're wrapping raw proteins, acidic sauces, or anything going back into a cold or hot hold environment.
The cling film we stock is catering-grade PVC or PVC-free formulation depending on the line. Check the product detail for the specific food contact compliance information before you order.
- Suitable for direct food contact
- Works in cold and short-term hot applications
- Strong cling that holds without extra tape or bands
- Perforated or straight-tear options available
Which Roll Width Do You Need?
Getting the right width saves time and film waste. Here's a rough guide:
- 300mm (30cm): Standard bench roll. Good for wrapping individual portions, covering small prep containers, or protecting cut produce.
- 450mm (45cm): The workhorse width for most commercial kitchens. Covers a gastronorm tray without two pulls.
- 600mm (60cm): High-volume operations. Ideal if you're wrapping large trays or doing bulk prep runs on a Saturday morning.
Core size matters too. Most catering dispensers take a standard 45mm core. Check your dispenser before ordering a case of the wrong size.
PVC vs PVC-Free Cling Film
Standard catering cling film is PVC-based. It clings well, tolerates cold temperatures, and is cost-effective at volume. It's the default for most kitchens and the most widely stocked option we carry.
PVC-free (typically PE or PVDC-free formulations) is available for operators who have a policy against PVC in their kitchen, or who want to reduce plasticiser exposure. Cling can be slightly less aggressive on some PVC-free films, so test it on your specific containers before committing to a full case order.
Neither option is compostable. If that matters for your waste programme, talk to us about alternatives like beeswax wraps or reusable covers for some applications.
Bulk Cling Film for High-Volume Kitchens
Buying a single roll at a supermarket is not a viable strategy for a busy kitchen. A case of catering cling film works out significantly cheaper per metre and means you're not sending someone out mid-service to grab more.
We sell by the case. Volume pricing is available on larger orders. If you're running multiple sites or want to set up a regular order, get in touch directly and we'll sort it.

Cling Film and Food Safety in Practice
The film is only part of the equation. A few things worth knowing for your food safety programme:
- Label everything you wrap. Date labels on cling-wrapped containers are required under most food safety plans. Pair your cling film with dissolvable or removable labels.
- Don't wrap hot food tightly. Standard PVC cling film isn't designed for steam contact. Let hot items cool before tight-wrapping, or use vented covers.
- Store rolls clean and dry. A roll that's been sitting near the fryer picking up grease isn't doing your cross-contamination controls any favours.
- Replace your dispenser blade regularly. A blunt blade causes tearing and slow pulls. Spare blades are cheap. Lost patience mid-service is not.
Frequently asked
Is this cling film actually food safe for direct contact with raw meat?+
Yes. The cling film we stock is catering-grade and manufactured for direct food contact, including raw proteins. Check the individual product listing for the specific compliance details on the line you're ordering.
What widths do you stock?+
We stock 300mm, 450mm, and 600mm rolls. Width availability can vary by stock levels — check the product listings for current stock.
Can I order a single roll or do I have to buy a full case?+
We sell by the case. Catering cling film is a high-use consumable and single-roll pricing doesn't make sense for a commercial kitchen. Case quantities are listed on the product page.
Do you offer same-day dispatch?+
Yes, on stocked lines. Order by 4pm on a NZ business day and we dispatch the same day. Delivery timeframes depend on your location.
Do you have a PVC-free option?+
Yes. We carry PVC-free cling film on selected lines. Check the product detail page or contact us if you need to confirm formulation before ordering.
Can I get cling film with custom printed branding?+
Custom printed cling film requires a minimum order quantity and lead time — it's not a stocked item. Contact us directly to discuss requirements and we'll let you know if it's viable for your volumes.
