Food Packaging Boxes NZ

The right box keeps your food hot, your presentation sharp, and your customers coming back.

We stock food packaging boxes for every format a NZ hospitality operator actually runs — pizza, burgers, fried chicken, noodles, sushi, desserts. Cardboard, kraft, bagasse, and clear PET, in sizes that fit your menu.

Orders placed before 4pm on business days ship the same day on stocked lines. No minimum order on most products. Browse, pick your sizes, and get it sorted.

What food packaging boxes does Frankly stock?

We stock food packaging boxes across every major hospitality category — pizza boxes, burger clamshells, noodle boxes, sushi trays, hot chip boxes, fried chicken buckets, dessert cups, and more.

Materials include virgin and recycled cardboard, natural kraft, bagasse (sugarcane fibre), and clear PET. Whether you need a plain white box or a printed kraft carry box, we have it on the shelf in Auckland, ready to dispatch.

  • Pizza boxes — 9", 10", 12", 14", 16"
  • Burger boxes and clamshells — small, medium, large formats
  • Noodle and rice boxes — 26oz, 32oz, 45oz
  • Hot chip and snack boxes — small, medium, large
  • Sushi trays and lids — 2-piece clear PET and kraft board
  • Dessert and cake boxes — 4", 6", 8", 10" windowed and plain
  • Fried chicken boxes — 1-piece and 2-piece kraft

Kraft vs white card: which food box material should you choose?

The right material depends on your food type, your brand aesthetic, and whether you need grease resistance or compostability.

Bagasse handles heat and moisture better than plain card. If your kitchen runs wet curries or steamed dishes, it's worth it. For dry fried food, lined kraft does the job at a lower price point.

Sizing guide: picking the right box for your menu

Get the size wrong and you're either crushing the food or sending it out rattling around in an oversized box — both are bad looks.

Not sure what fits? Order a sample pack before you commit to a case. We'd rather you get it right than return a pallet of the wrong size.

Bulk pricing and ordering food packaging boxes

Food packaging boxes are priced per case, with volume discounts kicking in at higher quantities — the more you order, the sharper the unit price.

Most stocked lines have no minimum order, so you can start with a single case while you test a new format. When you're running high volume, talk to us about contract pricing and scheduled deliveries.

  • Order before 4pm on NZ business days for same-day dispatch on stocked lines.
  • Freight is calculated at checkout based on your region and order weight.
  • Custom print runs are available — minimum quantities and lead times apply, contact us for a quote.
  • If a product is marked as a non-stocked or indent line, same-day dispatch does not apply.

We ship nationwide. Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Dunedin — all covered, though North Island metro gets the fastest transit times.

Sustainable food packaging boxes for NZ operators

If your customers care about your packaging footprint — and increasingly they do — we stock compostable and recyclable food box options alongside standard card.

Bagasse boxes are certified compostable and made from sugarcane fibre, a byproduct of sugar production. They're sturdy, microwave-safe, and handle hot, wet foods without going soggy. Unlined kraft boxes are also compostable where facilities exist.

A few things worth knowing before you switch:

  • Compostable claims only hold up if your customers have access to commercial composting. Check what's available in your area.
  • Lined white card and PE-coated kraft are not compostable, but they are recyclable in many NZ councils — check local guidelines.
  • Bagasse typically costs more per unit than lined card. Factor that into your menu pricing before committing.

We don't greenwash. We'll tell you straight what each product can and can't claim.

Frequently asked

Can I get same-day dispatch on food packaging boxes?+

Yes, on stocked lines. Place your order before 4pm on a NZ business day and we dispatch the same day. If a product is listed as non-stocked or indent, same-day dispatch doesn't apply — the product page will make this clear.

Is there a minimum order quantity?+

Most stocked lines have no minimum — you can order a single case. If you're after custom-printed boxes or indent products, minimums apply and vary by product. Contact us for specifics.

Do you offer custom printed food packaging boxes?+

Yes. We can arrange custom print runs with your logo and branding. Minimum quantities and lead times apply — these aren't a same-week job. Get in touch early and we'll work through the details with you.

What's the difference between bagasse and cardboard food boxes?+

Bagasse is made from sugarcane fibre and is naturally grease and moisture resistant. It handles hot, wet foods better than plain card and is certified compostable. Cardboard (lined with PE) is more affordable and widely available, but not compostable. For dry or lightly sauced food, lined card is usually fine. For curries, stews, or steamed dishes, bagasse is the better call.

Do you ship food packaging boxes to the South Island?+

Yes, we ship nationwide — Christchurch, Dunedin, Nelson, everywhere. Freight costs and transit times are calculated at checkout based on your location and order size. North Island metro gets the fastest transit.

Can I order a sample before committing to a full case?+

Yes. If you want to check sizing or material before placing a large order, get in touch and we can sort samples. It's a better outcome for both of us than returning a pallet of the wrong box.
